In one of the better merges between film and television, there's only one week until the Academy Awards are broadcast live on ABC. This year, the host will be talk-show celebrity and comedienne, Ellen DeGeneres.
It will be the first time DeGeneres has hosted the Oscars, although she has hosted the Emmys twice, in 2001 and 2005. She is taking the reins from 'The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, who hosted last year. Though some felt that Stewart was a fantastically funny host, just as many found it a flat performance. In fact, some would say that the last host to receive overall praise was actor/comedian Steve Martin.
Still, the most controversy from any host came from when incendiary comic Chris Rock hosted and leveled some insults at such actors as Jude Law, for having appeared in too many movies in one year and for not being a true "movie star."
