Outlander First Look Photo Shows Us Jamie Fraser In A Kilt
Christian who? Now that we’ve all had a chance to ogle Jamie Dornan’s Calvin Klein underwear photos since the announcement that he’ll be playing the recently vacated role of Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, let’s focus our attention on the star of another book-to-screen adaptation. This one also happens to be named Jamie, but he prefers a kilt to a pair of pricy tighty-whities. Starz has given us our first look at Sam Heughan as Jamie Frasier for the Outlander series.
Followers of the Starz Outlander Facebook page were the first to set eyes on the above photo, which includes the caption, “FOR THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD. Here's what your wee hearts have desired. James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser.”
He’s surrounded by hay, dressed in a tunic and a kilt and holding what appears to be a rake or some other farming tool, as opposed to a sword. But given the photo we’ve seen of series creator Ronald D. Moore on set, not to mention the behind-the-scenes footage that’s been released, we know swords are coming.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of books, Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a WWII combat nurse who’s on holiday with her husband when she touches a boulder and finds herself whisked back in time to 1743 in war torn Scotland. Sam Heughan (above) plays Jamie Frasier, the chivalrous and romantic Scottish warrior Claire’s forced to marry. The two ignite a passionate love affair that’s complicated somewhat by the fact that Claire has another husband in the future.
Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore is executive producing, and penning the first two episodes of the series, while John Dahl (Dexter, Breaking Bad) will direct. The series hosted a fan event during NYCC earlier this month, which offered a look at the two leads together, and some behind-the-scenes glimpses of the series, which is in production in Scotland now.
