Outlander Photo Round-Up Includes Leoch, Set Photo Smiles And Horses
Since our last photo round-up, Starz has released a number of smiley behind-the-scenes glimpses of Ronald D. Moore's Outlander series. But before we get to those, we have the above photo, which gives us a look at the stunning Castle Leoch in the 18th century where and when some of this story takes place.
Starz posted that scenic shot in honor of Daylight Savings, captioning it "Sad about losing an hour? Claire lost 200 years."
Good point!
Starz shared a brief synopsis for the series, that breaks down the general premise for the story, which is based on the first novel of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series:
So we've been seeing photos from two time periods. The above image is from the past part of the story, and this set photo shows Caitriona Balfe being made up as Claire in the 40s and looking beautiful...
And here's a set photo that shows Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe on a horse looking happy and bundled up.
That one seems like it might be an alternate view -- or from the same shoot anyway -- as the photo we saw last month.

And finally among the recent Instagram photos, we have this shot of Heughan and Graham McTavish killing some time on set playing Scrabble.
How many points is Sassenach?
Speaking of Graham McTavish, he and Gary Lewis have been featured in some of the "Speak Outlander" videos that Starz has been sharing to familiarize our ears to a bit of Gaelic ahead of this drama's arrival. The latest one shows us how to pronounce their characters' names, and gives us a little information into how they fit into the story...
The Outlander production participated in the "Slates for Sarah" initiative to pay tribute to Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old camera assistant who recently died on the set of the film Midnight Rider.
And last, but never least, here's my pick of the recent photos posted by Outlander writer Matt Roberts, who continues to share his own personal collection of photos, many of which show off the incredible Scottish landscape. This one gives us... a different kind of view...
Outlander is expected to premiere this Summer on Starz, but there's no official premiere date set yet. Keep track of our coverage of the series here!
