Pan Am's Michael Mosley Joins ABC's Last Resort
Those who watched ABC's Pan Am should be familiar with the sight of Michael Mosley in uniform. The actor, who played a pilot in the one-season drama is headed to another ABC series, and once again, he'll play a man in uniform, except this time he'll be working on a submarine, instead of a plane.
Created by Shawn Ryan, Last Resort is set to join ABC's Fall 2012 primetime line-up. The drama series stars Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick and Autumn Reeser, and follows the crew of a U.S. Navy submarine who are ordered to fire their nuclear missiles. When they question to order, they're fired upon without warning and left for dead. This leads them to escape to a remote island where they declare themselves a sovereign nation. Having nuclear weapons among their luggage probably helps them there.
According to TV Guide, Michael Mosley has signed on for a recurring guest star role as Chief Engineer Anders, "one of the crew aboard the U.S.S. Colorado who is put under pressure when Marcus (Braugher) orders him to turn on a prototype cloaking device named Perseus."
The words "put under pressure" makes me think of Arzt in Lost, though that's likely more to do with the island setting for the series, which is sure to draw plenty of Lost comparisons, not to mention the fact that - like Lost did - Last Resort will air on ABC. And Mosley's no stranger to that network, having played First Officer Ted Vanderway in the short-lived period drama Pan Am He was a former Navy man in that series too, if I recall, so the casting seems especially fitting there.
Last Resort premieres September 27 on ABC.
