Pee-Wee Goes For A Swim
Pee-Wee Herman is coming to the Cartoon Network? God, so many jokes; so little time. “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” returns to U.S. Television on July 10th when it joins the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim lineup. “Pee Wee,” starring Paul Reubens began in 1986 and had a 45 episode run before it was cancelled in 1991. If you don’t remember, Reubens was caught giving himself a vigorous handshake in the back of an adult theatre. Well, something like that. I’m sure some pervert out there knows the exact details and even what movie he was watching. Please feel free to post a comment below so that I can report you to the proper authorities. Whether or not the self-gratification ended the show or not, it did kill off Paul Reubens’s career for a long time and hurt his future earnings from syndication and merchandising deals.
“Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” becomes the second live-action show to join Adult Swim. While it does seem strange for a network with the word CARTOON in its title has begun airing non-animated shows, “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” was easily more animated than most cartoons of its generation. Besides, anything that limits the amount of anime crap that is on tv is a damn good thing.
