Phineas And Ferb Planning Star Wars Crossover Episode
Disney’s animated program, Phineas and Ferb, has a knack for being culturally relevant, as well as extremely witty. The program pleases both kids and their parents and should continue to do so, thanks to a couple of crossover episodes Disney has in the works. Next month, the network will air Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel and on Friday Disney announced that it has a second crossover episode in the works, this time featuring lightsabers and other weapons and characters from the Star Wars realm.
While we’ve know about the Marvel crossover special for a while, show creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh announced the Star Wars episode at San Diego Comic Con. According to press release, the episode will follow the same timeline as the Star Wars films.
The episode will be set in the summertime on Tatooine. Phineas and Ferb spend their days hanging out just one farm over from Luke Skywalker. However, things change after plans to blow up the Death star fall into the young mens' hands. Other plotlines in the episode will include Phineas’ sister, Candace, taking on some rebels and another secondary plotline involving the Death Star and a "Sith-inator" weapon that wreaks havoc on numerous animated characters. Of course, Dr. Doofenshmirtz will also have a role, starring in the special episode as Darth Enshmirtz.
This won’t be the first time the series has given fans nods to the world of Star Wars. Relevant videos are available all over YouTube, but the one below happens to be our favorite, and it’s all you’re going to get until Disney officially releases the Phineas and Ferb special on Disney Channel and Disney XD in 2014.
If you do happen to be more of a Marvel fan than a Star Wars fan or if you don’t discriminate, you’ll be able to catch the Mission Marvel crossover special next month. In that crossover episode Phineas and Ferb will team up with the likes of Spider-man, Iron Man, Thor, and The Hulk to take some bad guys from the Marvel Universe and save the town of Danville from imminent destruction. The special airs on Friday, August 16 at 8 p.m. ET. You can check out a preview for the episode, but Disney already has plenty of previews available for that one.
