Portlandia Season 2 To Feature Guest Appearances By Eddie Vedder, Isaac Brock And Other Musicians

IFC delivered some good news for fans of their returning comedy series Portlandia. Not only is the series’ second season set to premiere a little bit earlier than originally planned, but it’s also set to include a bevy of known musicians, who join the list of guest stars in the series’ second season.

As far as the above mention of the series returning “a little bit sooner,” the series is only returning a few days ahead of the originally scheduled date. IFC’s update says Portlandia, which stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and pokes fun at the trendy Pacific-northwest scene, is set to return for its second season on Friday, January 6th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT (as opposed to Monday, January 9th).

Joining Kyle MacLachlan, Penny Marshall, Jack McBrayer, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Tim Robbins, Andy Samberg, Amber Tamblyn, and Kristen Wiig among the series upcoming guest stars are musicians Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) Johnny Marr (The Smiths), singer/songwriter Joanna Newsom, Annie Clark (St. Vincent), and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. Given Vedder’s involvement in the Seattle grunge scene back in the 90’s, his participation in the series seems particularly fitting, considering the relatively close proximity of the fictional locale of IFC’s hilarious little series to Seattle.

?IFC doesn’t say much about what these musicians will be doing on the show other than to say that they “will be taking up temporary residence in the show’s satirical and dreamy rendering of Portland, Or.” Vague but... awesome.
