Private Practice's Chris Lowell Gets Enlisted By Fox With Geoff Stults

The cast of Fox's pilot Enlisted continues to take shape, filling the last of the three brothers set to be featured in the comedy. Last month, we learned that The Finder's Geoff Stults was set to star in the project, which would keep him at Fox, following the cancellation of the Bones spin-off and more recent cancellation of his last semi-steady gig, Ben & Kate. Today brings word that Chris Lowell has signed on to play one of Stults' character's brothers.

Written by Cougar Town's Kevin Biegel, Enlisted is a single-camera comedy that stars Stults as Sgt. Pete Waits, a man who finishes a tour in Afghanistan and is stationed at a military base in Florida where he's put to the task of leading a squad, which just so happens to include his two dysfunctional brothers. TVLine says Chris Lowell is joining previously cast Parker Young to fill the roles of Waits' brothers. Lowell's character is Derrick, "the sarcastically funny middle brother of Randy (Young) and Pete (Stults) who is smart but the most cynical out of the bunch." Apparently, he doesn't care much for being a soldier in the Rear Detachment, but he has yet to find something else to do instead.

Lowell's recent credits include the role of Dell on ABC's Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice, and a part in the feature film The Help. Prior to that, he played the unfortunately-named "Piz" in the final season of Veronica Mars. If things work out for Enlisted this would be a jump from drama to comedy on the small screen for the actor. Something tells me he'll make the transition just fine. With the three brothers cast, we'll have to wait and see if there are any starring roles for females in this project and who's cast to play them.
