Rachel Zoe Sells Comedy Based On Her Life To NBC
Stylist and designer Rachel Zoe is hoping she’s interesting enough – and funny enough - to be the focus of a comedy, and NBC may give her the chance to prove it. The Bravo reality star has sold a single-camera comedy based on a fictionalized version of herself to the peacock network, which she will executive produce along with her husband Rodger Berman.
Zoe’s reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project, is entering Season 5 on Bravo and focuses on her busy life as a top stylist to the stars as well as a mother to a son born in March of 2011. Last year she also added designer to her hyphenates when she released her own fashion line for the first time. Now her life is looking to be the inspiration for a half-hour comedy, according to Deadline. Zoe rose in the world of fashion without any formal training, and has been the stylist to such big names as Lindsay Lohan, Demi Moore, and Kate Hudson among many others.
There’s little in the way of details on the project, so it’s hard to say just how fictionalized it would really be. Zoe’s life reads like the American Dream – married an investment banker and became the mother of his child, made herself a career in fashion that earned her a television show, and collaborated with the biggest names in the fashion world. Where the comedy comes is in anyone’s guess, but certainly laughs have been found in the fashion industry in the past. On board for the project are Animal Practice writer Aseem Batra and The Larry Sanders Show director Todd Holland.
