Rake Trailer Reveals Greg Kinnear's Charming Side, Us & Them Showcases Romance And Humor
Among the new series headed for Fox during Midseason of next year is Peter Duncan's drama Rake and David Rosen's Us & Them. The trailer for Rake supports my theory that this is going to be a great role for Greg Kinnear. The series is a remake of an Australian drama and has Kinnear playing Keegan Dean, a criminal defense lawyer who's known to take on cases other attorneys might pass over. He's described as brilliant, frustratingly charming and he has no filter. But he's also determined to defend people who might be written off as beyond redemption. The trailer shows off some of his charm and a lot of his determination.
The character description alone sounds intriguing enough, and we can also factor in Peter Tolan's involvement as an executive producer. Tolan co-created Rescue Me with Denis Leary, which means he knows a thing or two about dark humor and self-destructive characters. So it's going to be great to see how this show looks when it makes its debut next winter. In addition to Kinnear, the cast also includes Miranda Otto, John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, Tara Summers and Ian Colletti.
And also on deck for midseason is Us & Them, an ensemble single-camera comedy from David Rosen, starring Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel…
The idea of Ritter and Bledel as an onscreen couple is reason enough to give Us & Them a shot, but factor in the adorable, charming humor glimpsed in the trailer and I have high hopes that this series will live up to its potential. In addition to Ritter and Bledel, Us & Them stars Dustin Ybarra, Ashlie Atkinson, Jane Kaczmarek, Kurt Fuller, Kerry Kenney. And as you may have noted in the trailer, Michael Ian Black appears, though he's currently listed as a guest star.
