Those with an appreciation for numbers and statistics will likely find History’s upcoming new series The United Stats of America of interest. Set to debut next month, the series finds the fun in facts and figures, breaking down U.S. culture by the numbers in away that actually sounds pretty entertaining, even for those of us who usually cringe at the sight or sound of anything math-related.
Stand-up comedians (and identical twins) Randy and Jason Sklar are set to host The United Stats of America, which premieres on History on Tuesday, May 8 at 10:00 p.m. The Sklars apparently have an obsession with numbers. That, added to their senses of humor and “amazing knack for finding the incredible stories behind the stats” should make for an interesting and educational kind of show.
UNITED STATS OF AMERICA reveals the stories behind the most interesting and surprising statistics in American history – stories that tell us more about who we are as individuals and as a nation. Randy and Jason bring their irreverent brand of humor to locations across the country, uncovering hidden facts about America and Americans while engaging in stunts and experiments that help them uncover the story behind the stats. The Sklars will also utilize cutting-edge computer technology and visually stunning “infographics” to help bring these numbers to life.
Among the topics set to be explored within the first few episodes are the deadliest animal in America (hint: It’s not a snake or a shark!), the amazing amount of time American’s spend stuck in traffic each year, and the enormous percentage of people crowded into a relatively tiny percentage of this country’s land. In addition to sounding entertaining, this also sounds like just the series to help viewers store up various nuggets of facts, which they can later share among friends... or with the passenger of their car when they’re contributing to the 4.2 billion hours a year spent stuck in traffic by Americans...
