Rapaport Joins My Name Is Earl

Michael Rapaport is a great supporting actor. His work as cantankerous professor Danny Hanson on ‘Boston Public’ was near brilliant as well as his guest starring role on ‘Friends’, but the last few seasons as the star of ‘The War At Home’ have been a near train wreck of mediocrity. The show is obvious and predictable and lacks any hint of the depth Rapaport showed earlier in his career. Mercifully, Fox cancelled the sitcom earlier this year, and it now appears the thirty seven year old actor is ready for his next challenge.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rapaport has signed on for a recurring guest role in NBC’s hilarious hit ‘My Name Is Earl.’ He will play an inmate incarcerated in the same prison as Jason Lee. The Peacock network will then look to place him back in a starring gig with a new show during Fall 2008. Rapaport had previously worked with ‘Earl’ creator Greg Garcia on the pilot ‘Fugly.’

This is very exciting news. ‘My Name Is Earl’ is one of the funnier comedies on TV today, and the addition of Rapaport provides another outlet for hilarity. I can’t wait for the season premiere, and I’m hoping that you’ll be watching along with me.
