Rescue Me Fires Up It's Third Season

‘Rescue Me’ fans are surely on the edge of their seats today in anticipation for tonight’s season premiere. As though rushing into burning buildings couldn’t already be seen as “self-destructive behavior”, Senior Firefighter Tommy Gavin (played by popular comedian-slash-actor Denis Leary) has built a reputation for letting his emotions dictate his actions in previous seasons and I’m sure it wouldn’t be a hasty prediction to say that this season will be no different.

The above being stated, it should also to be said that flaws and all; Gavin is an extremely likable character. A lot of his lovability has to do with Leary’s performance. Leary has spent the last decade or so mastering the comedic art of the pissed off chain-smoking Irish-American man and somehow managed to turn that act into a serious and fairly realistic portrayal of a man struggling to balance a high-stress career and an extremely unstable personal life.

As ‘Rescue Me’ enters its third season, the focus will continue to center around Gavin’s professional and personal life as a firefighter, father and husband as well as occasionally dipping into the lives of some of Gavin’s co-firefighters/friends.

The season premiere of ‘Rescue Me’ airs tonight (Tuesday) at 10 PM on FX
