Rob Huebel Joins Shawn Levy's Family Album For Fox
A bit of good news, bad news. FX has officially passed on the Thomas Lennon/ Robert Ben Garant pilot U.S.S. Alabama. The men behind Reno 911 and Night At The Museum had pitched the show as a crazy, sci-fi adventure a thousand years in the future about a UN Peacekeeping spaceship, but apparently, the project was either too expensive or just didn’t work creatively. One network’s loss is another’s gain though, as this has freed up visionary comedian Rob Huebel to sign on for Fox’s Family Album.
You probably remember Huebel as 1/3rd of MTV’s Human Giant, but he also turned in a very memorable performance as Tevin in the Paul Rudd/ Jason Segal comedy I Love You, Man. Family Album, curiously being directed by Night At The Museum helmer Shawn Levy, follows a bit of a throwback dad who decides to pile the family into the car for a stressful, joyless vacation. If the pilot works out, each season will follow one particular summer trip, sorta like 24 with presumably fewer murders and more awkwardness.
Rob Huebel will play the patriarch’s brother. No one else has yet been cast. With a high profile director and Huebel already on board, there’s a very good chance you’ll be seeing this on Fox’s fall schedule next year.
