Rock Center With Brian Williams Preview: Shawn Fanning And Sean Parker Discuss Airtime
Tonight, NBC is bringing Rock Center With Brian Williams back with a brand new episode. Among the topics set to be addressed during the newsmagazine series tonight is the web video project Napster creators Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker are launching, the story of Oscar Pistorius, double amputee who's headed to London for the Olympics, and the dangers of concussions among female soccer players.
This first clip has Napster founders Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning introducing their new web video service Airtime, which is a live video chat network that allows friends to connect with one another. They talk about the different ways the platform can be used, so people with shared interested can interact across the distance. They also discuss getting back together to collaborate on this project.
This clip offers a look at a segment that focuses on Oscar Pistorius, a world champion splinter who's also a double-amputee. The segment discusses his parents' choice to have his legs amputated below the knee when he was younger, and his determination not to be seen as disabled ("just different"). It certainly looks like an inspirational story, especially as we see him running on prosthetic legs.
And finally, this last clip explores the topic of headbands intended to prevent concussions among girls who play soccer.
Do they really work, though? It sounds like that may be unproven at this point.
You can see these topics explored further during tonight's episode of Rock Center with Brian Williams, which airs on NBC at 10:00 p.m. ET.
