The Saint May Make A Return To Television
Since that two-hour movie of Knight Rider was so successful a few weeks ago, another old TV show is trying to make another go of it. The Saint, which was originally a British TV series in the 60’s, has gotten the backing of it’s original star, Roger Moore, as one of the producers.
Also on team Templar are writer Jorge Zamacona, Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson, Roger’s son Geoffrey Moore and producer Bill MacDonald. The current plan is to make the movie themselves, and then find a network later.
Yahoo News reports that Mr. Macdonald obtained the rights to the franchise in 1991 and helped to make the Val Kilmer movie happen. Back in 2004, MacDonald, Zamacona and the father-son duo of the Moores teamed up to bring the show to TNT, but late last year, TNT passed on the project.
If anyone remembers the 1997 movie, you will remember Simon Templar as a very serious kind of guy. Much to my relief, Bill Macdonald assures the general public, "One of the things we lost a little bit of in the movie but want to bring to the TV series is that Simon Templar is very funny character with great lines and situation humor, and I don't think there is anybody better than Levinson to tackle that."
