Saturday Night Live Promo With Host Charlie Day And Jason Sudeikis
There might not be another show in history that has gone through as many fits and starts as NBC's Saturday Night Live and yet somehow managed to keep on going. And not just for a few more seasons, the live sketch comedy show is now entering its 37th year, which is a little bit more than impressive. One of the reasons the show is able to rebound from the bad episodes (years), is by booking super relevant and funny hosts like this week's Charlie Day.
The show has succeeded lately, and experienced a mini-revival, because of their willingness to explore new and rising comic talents. People that perhaps aren't superstars yet, but surely on their way, like Melissa McCarthy, who hosted in what is already being hailed as one of the best SNL's in recent memory. It's when they rely on the old guard, no matter how funny Alec Baldwin may be, that it comes across as just that, old hat and a bit tired. Stick to bringing in new and exciting comedic (or dramatic) voices and the show might just make it another 35 years.
As stated above, this week will feature It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day in the hosting role and, unfortunately for all of our ears, Maroon 5 is the musical guest. Charlie Day's star is surely on the rise, getting more and more feature film parts including the recent hit Horrible Bosses (with SNL star Jason Sudeikis - who he's hamming it up with below) and the upcoming blockbuster from Guillermo del Toro called Pacific Rim. Take a look at showstoppers Day and Sudeikis as they promotes this weekends SNL. I most certainly will be watching as this is probably the most promising host, in my opinion, since Zach Galifianakis.
Saturday Night Live airs every, uh, Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
