Spoilers if you aren’t caught up on Scandal through Season 3, Episode 5, “More Cattle, Less Bull”!
Last Thursday’s episode of Scandal dropped a pretty major bomb on us with a potential reveal about “Operation Remington,” the mysterious secret mission that Fitz is involved with and Rowan has been covering up. What do we know about Operation Remington? The latest promo for Scandal focuses entirely on that as it lays out the things we know about about Operation Remington, including the intel Huck dug up that left us waiting for more answers.
Here’s what we know about Operation Remington:
1. Four people know the truth: The President, Rowan, Cyrus, and Pete Foster. The fourth person on that list is dead, having been killed by Huck.
2. The President did not fly on Remington: He said he flew on the mission, but he didn’t. Possibly because he was doing something else. Something they wanted to cover up.
3. Iceland: This brings us to last week’s episode. Huck discovered that there was a plane crash near Iceland. A plane went down carrying more than 300 passengers. Huck thinks it was shot down on behalf of the U.S. government.
4. Mama Pope was on the plane: That’s another bombshell dropped on us last week.
I said this last week, but I’ll say it again. I’m sure there are more pieces to this puzzle. I can’t imagine Fitz would willingly shoot down a passenger jet, even if it was on orders. But there are still plenty of questions to be answered, like whether or not Fitz even knows that Olivia’s mother was on that plane? And what exactly happened during that mission?
Here's where I add my own conspiracy theory. Rowan knows Huck and Jake have been following him, right? He also knows that Jake’s spending time with Olivia, so I wouldn’t put it past him to intentionally lead Huck to this information so that it would get back to Olivia and maybe cause her to pull the plug on her relationship with Fitz once and for all. He’s that manipulative. But that still doesn’t explain the mission. What is the truth?That’s something we’ll have to wait and find out, but it seems almost certain that Fitz and Olivia are in for an explosive confrontation. And as Fitz says in the vide, who else has to die to protect this secret?
