Scoundrels Watch: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary
Going straight after living a life of crime can never be easy. As is the case with The West's whom we were introduced to last Sunday during ABC's Scoundrels. In tonight's episode we found out just exactly how hard it is to stay out of trouble, even if you are innocent of the crime.
Cheryl has laid down the law hard on her kids, and like any good mother, she has decided to lead by example and is now the newest checkout person at Big Foods, a local supermarket chain. Cal is hard at work paying off his debt to the Hong's, and Heather is busy serving fries at Rusty's Burgers but their criminal pasts may come back to bite them in the ass, and make life hell for everyone.
Cheryl
Cheryl's first week at Big Foods has gone off without a hitch, until she starts to realize that her boss is a little bit of a pervert and starts standing up for the rights of all the female workers in the store. So with a freshly painted target on her back, Cheryl is named the prime suspect in the theft of a truck load of toilet paper, and is quickly taken in for questioning by the families nemesis Sgt. Mack.
Logan
Even though he is the only West without a criminal record, Logan is not without his faults. It seems that he is still having a relationship with Valerie, the Principal of Hope's school and has been with her for the last seven years. But, when she starts talking about settling down, Logan starts to reevaluate the relationship he has with her.

It is quickly becoming clear that Cal can't keep out of trouble, and when he meets Mr. Hong's wife the urge is too strong and he begins cleaning more than just the pool.
Heather
Heather is hard at work at Rusty's Burgers, but her heart is set on being a model. She enlists the help of Hope and her friend to take new head-shots for her portfolio. When her friend starts paying more attention to Heather, a jealous Hope destroys the photos from her friend's hard drive. But all is not lost, as Heather is approached by a customer and presented with an offer to come in for an audition for a modeling job.
How's It End?
Cheryl takes it upon herself to discover who was behind the theft and after doing a little detective work finds the man responsible and gets the stolen items returned to the store, and in the process gets her job back. Mr. Hong confronts Cal and reassures the young stud, that if he were to discover any man with his wife, that he would serve their testicles for dinner. The show ends with the man who stole the truck from Big Foods talking to Wolf, who is revealed to be the man behind the theft, which only adds to the tension between Cheryl and her incarcerated husband.
The Show Virginia Madsen really stepped into the spotlight tonight, she was extremely good and is by far the best thing about the show. I was unsure of how Scoundrels might play out after I got to watch a few episodes, but after tonight I can honestly say that ABC has got itself another great show. There are some characters I would like to see more of, namely the Grandfather. But I am sure as time goes on that he may get more face-time. All in all, this is a real quality show, one that I am now looking forward to sitting down every Sunday and watching.
