Scoundrels Watch: Where Have You Been, Charming Billy?
Things haven't been easy for The Wests as of late, and trying to leave their life of crime isn't helping matters at all. But sometimes life throws you a little curveball, and that one particular moment has a way of putting things into perspective.
Criminals are opportunists and the recent departure by The West family has left a nice void in the criminal underworld. So any chance someone gets they pounce on it, which is the case for Billy (a friend of The Wests). It seems Billy thought that jumping into a trash can would be a great way to hide from police, unfortunately for him it is Pick-Up Day, and Billy gets taken out with the rest of the trash.
The untimely death of Billy has left Cal a mess, and not even booze or Women can bring him out of his funk, it is quite clear that he is lost and in need of some guidance from his father, Wolf. As luck would have it, Wolf is closer than everyone thinks and to everyone's surprise he suddenly appears dressed in a suit, and is escorted by an armed guard.
The mood suddenly picks up as everyone is elated to see Wolf, everyone except for Cheryl. Who is still mad at her husband for ratting out his ex-partner, Alan.
With a little help from Heather and her "talents", the guard is conned into allowing Wolf to return home for a few hours to spend time with his family, and the minute he steps inside the house he begins wooing his wife, in hopes that she will forgive him, which is easier said then done.
With Wolf trying to win over Cheryl, and Heather keeping the guard distracted. The youngest West, Hope decides that this is her time to make a move, and tell Tad how she feels. A few awkward moments turn into a full blown make out session, as Hope makes it abundantly clear that she wants to be more than just friends with Tad. With hormones raging, Hope throws herself at the boy and as he is about to boldy go, where no man has gone before. The name Heather slips out of his mouth, and Hope tearfully asks Tad to leave.
While some are unlucky in love, others are all about it, as anger turns to passion and Cheryl and Wolf make up, twice (once in the bathroom, and once in the bedroom). Cheryl quickly regrets the decision, and slowly begins thinking that she may not be in love with Wolf anymore.

Cal who is a little drunk, and still hurting from Billy's death decides that he has had enough of his mother's rules and decides that he will return to stealing, to hire a new Lawyer for Wolf's appeal trial. This as you may guess, dosen't go over well with Logan who is currently working on his Father's case. The twin-brothers scuffle after Logan stops Cal from breaking in to a store, and after a few moments the Brothers gingerly get up, say they'll see each other at home, and go about their business.
Hope, not wanting to ruin the relationship she has with her best friend, Tad visits him at work, and they make amends as well, but it is clear that Hope is still hurt and is very much in love with Tad.
One person that is not in love at the moment is Cheryl, who is wrestling with her emotions and trying too come to terms with the fact that she may be losing faith in Wolf and her marriage. She confronts Wolf and tells him that in order for this to work, that he must change his ways once he is out of prison. But, Wolf laughs and promises Cheryl that the one thing she can bet on is that he will never change his ways.
After the guests have left and the house is empty, Logan returns home to find his Mother alone in the backyard. When Logan approaches Cheryl she confesses that she still loves her Husband, but that she thinks that Wolf being in Jail is the best thing for the family. She then asks Logan to stop working on his Father's appeal case, because she doesn't want him to come home until he has changed his ways.
Thoughts On Tonight's Episode
A little more on the serious side in tonight's episode, compared to last week which was all about the laughs. For some shows that dynamic works, sometimes they juggle the drama with the laughs which is good too. But like I said last week, this show has got its rhythm and it just keeps getting better and better. Virginia Madsen just keeps delivering top-notch performances and the rest of the cast is starting to really work as well. The only bad thing I really have to say is that, I wish they would develop Wolf a little bit more. I don't know if it's intentional, or just a bi-product of the storyline but every time Wolf shows up it takes me out of the show a bit. It's like having Sean Connery pop-up every once in a while in a scene. Tonight's episode was is the only exemption, because David James Elliot was in most of the episode but I really think they need to find a better way to work Wolf into the story.
That is just my opinion (of course), but I would really like to know what you guys think. Do you like how the show is playing out so far? Likes or dislikes? Or are you just oneof those people that think they should stop with the remakes of TV shows from New Zealand?
