Smallville Reaction: Disciple
Wait a second! I thought Oliver’s issues were all wrapped up by the end of “Crossfire”! He had rededicated himself to fighting crime as the Green Arrow. He picked up a sidekick to train. He even gave up on his pining over Lois. So after all that happens, doesn’t this episode seem a little bit out of place? Because from scene one, Oliver is on edge, almost killing young Mia. And as his former teacher, Vardigan, starts trying to pick off his friends one-by-one, he couldn’t have been more neurotic. Just to throw a little more awkwardness in the mix, it appears that Oliver still has a crush on Lois.
The funny thing is, even Chloe thought it was pretty strange. Chloe really has no weight to her argument that Oliver should be over her because they have been broken up for a few years now. I mean, Chloe is still trying to get past her nine year crush on Clark. Pot and kettle, Chloe. Pot and kettle. Chloe and Clark had a bit of tension in this episode over her manipulations, and the morality behind it. It is getting more interesting now that they are actually talking about it.
Watching Lois and Clark acting as a couple is interesting as well. Your brain is screaming out so many reasons why this should not be happening right now, while your heart goes into swoon mode when they start with the P.D.A. and the romantic banter. There was a great moment at the top of the episode, where you could see real magic between the two.
As always, the most interesting parts of the show are when Callum Blue is lighting it up with his intensity. It was shocking to see him in the Kent family kitchen and then chatting it up with Lois. He treads a fine line between impassioned and threatening. But, as we see at the end of the episode, he is still working toward the goal of completing the towers that will turn the sun red and give power to his people. Watch your back, Clark.
Oh yeah ... so Oliver defeats his master and he doesn’t strike him down with all of his anger and become the new Dark Archer. He is still pining over Lois, but he rededicated himself to Mia and being the Green Arrow again. Anyone want to set their watches to when Oliver goes crazy again?
