Smash Preview: Episode 10 - Uma Thurman Makes Her Entrance
Much in the way that the musical being developed in Smash is looking for a bit of star-power to get it some attention, the NBC series itself doesn’t seem to be above bringing in a big name. Of course, Smash is only bringing Uma Thurman on as a guest star, and not to replace one of is leads, which is what’s happening with Ivy as Therman’s Rebecca Duvall steps in to take over the role of Marilyn.
?The clip we have to show you from tonight’s episode (“Understudy”) doesn’t give a huge amount away in terms of the dialogue. In fact, very little is said in actual words. But a lot is said in facial expressions and body language as Thurman’s character Duvall makes an deliciously dramatic (and occasionally slow-walking) entrance into the studio.?
In addition to the dramatic, sunglasses-removing entrance by Thurman’s Rebecca, everything from the way Ivy steps out of her way, to the nervous expression on Karen’s face, to Derek’s less than enthusiastic expression suggests that there’s more than one person not thrilled by Ms. Duvall’s arrival. Of course, Eileen seems over the moon by it. It’ll be interesting to see how Thurman’s character does in her newly acquired role, and how her presence affects the production.
Smash airs Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
