New Spartacus Video Looks Back At The Starz Drama And Previews War Of The Damned
Spartacus fans likely don't need to be reminded that this month brings the return of the beloved Starz drama for its final season. In anticipation for the premiere of Spartacus: War of the Damned, Starz released this video, which looks back at the series from its beginning all the way through Spartacus: Vengance, and then offers a brief preview of the upcoming War of the Damned.
Clocking in at nearly ten minutes, the video below features the cast and writers, including creator Steven S. DeKnight, the late Andy Whitfield and Liam McIntyre as they discuss the drama, which began as a gladiator show and has since escalated to battle series.
It's interesting to hear DeKnight admit to going a bit overboard with the sex and violence in the series' first few episodes. I'll admit, while I don't typically shy away from that sort of thing as a viewer, it was overkill enough at the start of Spartacus: Blood and Sand that I didn't even make it through the pilot before deciding I wouldn't watch the show. It took word of mouth to get me to give the drama a second chance, and I'm very glad I did as the series really hit its stride after those first few episodes, and has since gone on to become one of my favorite shows on television. How about that?
It's disappointing that Spartacus is coming to an end, but I know I'm not alone in being very excited to see how it all wraps up.
Spartacus: War of the Damned premieres January 25 on Starz.
