The Associated Press is reporting that Star Jones Reynolds will be premiering her new talk show (cleverly titled Star Jones) on Court TV at 3 p.m. on Monday. She will interview guests ranging from everyday people to celebrities. Rumor has it that one of her first guests will be none other than the recently-fired Isaiah Washington. I’m sure those two will have plenty to talk about!
Could Ms. Jones need any more publicity? First, she had her ultra over-the-top wedding to Al Reynolds a few years ago. Then came her hasty departure from The View where she said in no uncertain terms that she was not leaving by choice. Then came the much-talked about weight loss, where Jones finally, finally admitted in an article for Glamour magazine that she had gastric bypass surgery four years ago (and to quote Simon Cowell when William Hung informed him that he had no formal music training: “That’s the surprise of the century!”).
And now comes the latest publicity stunt in a seemingly endless string of publicity stunts, The Talk Show, which I for one am giddy with anticipation to watch. The Talk Show, which will be news driven will air Monday through Friday and although many of the show’s topics will focus on legal issues and criminal justice, rather than weight loss and lavish celebrity weddings, with Jones in the driver’s seat, you can bet it won’t be boring!
