Starz Sets Premiere Date For Magic City
April is already looking like a pretty great month for premium cable original programming. Earlier we shared the news that HBO had set premiere dates for a number of new and returning projects, including the Game of Thrones Season 2 premiere. And now, Starz has passed word along that the premiere date for the debut of their new series Magic City has been set for April as well.
Created by Mitch Glazer, Magic City takes place in Miami Beach in the late ’50’s at a luxurious hotel called Miramar Playa. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Ike Evans, a man who, in an effort to finance his dream, is indebted to mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond (played by Danny Huston). The drama joins shows like Mad Men and ABC’s Pan Am in revisiting the middle of last century. In the case of Magic City, it sounds like the mob angle and the lavish hotel backdrop will play a large part in distinguishing the series:
Starz released a teaser for the series last fall, which you can view below. Magic City will premiere on April 6 at 10 pm ET/PT, exclusively on STARZ.
