Summer Glau Joins Tricia Helfer In TNT's Scent Of The Missing

As though geeks didn’t already have enough of a reason to hope things work out for TNT’s pilot Scent of the Missing, which is set to star Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer, now it looks like Summer Glau has been added to the pilot’s cast.

Scent of the Missing is based on a book by Susannah Charleston and follows Susannah (Helfer), a “tenacious, strong-willed K-9 Search and Rescue volunteer.” Susannah’s partner is a golden retriever named Puzzle. Recent casting news for the show includes the addition of Eric Winter, and now, according to Deadline, Glau will also join the cast. She’s set to play a new member of the Search and Rescue team. She’s described as beautiful (duh), very wealthy, and “much tougher than she looks.” I also expect she’s good with dogs.

Between Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Glau’s likely to add a lot of appeal to this already interesting sounding project. It also sees two excellent sci-fi worlds collide as she joins BSG-beauty Tricia Helfer.

Deadline also reports that Daryl Mitchell (Brothers, Ed), is also set to join the cast, playing a wheelchair-bound former military sergeant who works as the communications technician for the team.

The pilot is set to go into production later this month.

Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
