Summer TV Preview: Burn Notice on USA

What happens to a spy once they’ve been blacklisted from the industry? Ask agent Michael Westen. Later this month USA will premiere a new drama series called ‘Burn Notice.’ The show will center on a spy who received a burn notice but has no idea who sent it or why.

What’s a burn notice? According to the US Department of Defense Dictionary of Military Terms, a burn notice is “an official statement by one intelligence agency to other agencies, domestic or foreign, that an individual or group is unreliable for any of a variety of reasons.”

In the new USA drama, Michael Westin gets a burn notice while on assignment and can no longer continue working as a spy. Wanting to find out why this happened but no longer having the resources to investigate the matter, he heads back home to Miami. He starts working as a spy-for-hire so he can raise money to fund his mission and figure out who was behind his sudden termination.

Jeffrey Donovan plays Michael Westen. Also set to star in the show is Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless.
