Anyone who has ever had a cat for a pet knows how ridiculously lazy they can be. My cats sleep half the day away and only get up to beg for food and occasionally bat things around with their paws. ABC Family seems to have picked up on what freeloading slackers these domesticated felines can be and they’re about to premiere a new animated series dedicated to the furry little beasts.
The title of this grown-up cartoon series is ‘Slacker Cats’ and it centers on the lives of a bunch of cats and the owners who keep them. Two of the cats, Buckley and Eddie, fill their free time (which for cats, is pretty much every minute that they’re not curled up, napping) coming up with ridiculous adventures. They do crazy things like bringing home a Bengal tiger because they think its just a big domesticated cat or selling their friend Tabitha to an animal testing facility just to get money to play poker. The problem with cats is that their motivation comes in spurts and leaves just as quickly.
If ‘Slacker Cats’ is as funny and entertaining as ABC Family’s new series, ‘Greek,’ it’ll definitely be worth checking out.
‘Slacker Cats’ includes the voices of stand-up comics, Harland Williams and Emo Philips and actress Kirsten Warren (‘Desperate Housewives’). It premieres on ABC Family on Monday, August 13, 10:00 p.m.
