After seven years of starring on Smallville, Michael Rosenbaum, better known as Lex Luthor, will be leaving the show. Apparently, Mr. Luthor’s desire to destroy the Man of Steel has been suppressed by Mr. Rosenbaum’s desire to move on with his life and not be typecast as a villain forever.
He will be missed by his fans, but CW is quick to reassure the fan base that the show will go on. The Hollywood Reporter delivers the news that it will take not one, but two new villains.
“One of the new villains is Doomsday, who's notable for killing Superman in the DC Comics Superman universe. Another is a female villain producers describe as "intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister" whose "attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him."
It is rumored that the 8th season will be the last for the show, which brings up the question – will Doomsday finish what Lex started? Or will it be the deadly female that will mean the end for Superman? Stay tuned…
