Swayze's The Beast Premieres In Mid-January

Who isn’t looking forward to Patrick Swayze’s big comeback? The actor’s battle with cancer has been widely publicized and while we at Cinema Blend wish him all the best in his fight with the disease, I’m just as hopeful that his new A&E drama series The Beast turns out to be as good as the trailer makes it look.

Girls swooned over Swayze in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Guys thought he was badass in Road House. What will we think of him in The Beast? In exactly one month, we’ll find out. The series, which centers on Charles Barker (Swayze), an FBI vet who is working with his new rookie partner Ellis Dove (Travis Fimmel) to teach him all about the dangerous world that is undercover work is set to premiere on A&E in mid-January.

I wondered if I should make a bad joke about Swayze’s role in the classic Point Break, which involved a bank robbing surfer gang and an undercover cop but as I’m feeling really optimistic about The Beast, so forget I even mentioned it.

The Beast premieres on January 15th at 10 PM ET on A&E.
