Syfy Renews Face Off For Season 3

While Syfy’s programming doesn’t always fall under the textbook definition of science fiction, given how necessary special effects make-up artistry is to a lot of sci-fi film and television, Face Off is not only a fun and interesting look at the industry (with a competitive twist), but it’s also fitting to the genre. Fans of the series will be happy to know that there’s more to come as the network has given it an order for another season.

Face Off’s second season is currently airing on Wednesday night’s on the cable channel. Today, the network announced that they’ve given the green light for a third season, ordering ten episodes of the series.

The competition series features various special effects make-up artists as they compete against one another to show off their skills in their craft in various themed challenges. While the competition aspect of the series gives it a suspenseful edge, the real beauty of the show comes from the talent showcased and the finished products as the contestants attempt to complete whatever the assignment is, while also demonstrating their creativity and technique.

This Wednesday night’s episode will feature celebrity appearances Vivica Fox (Kill Bill, Independence Day) and Being Human’s Sam Huntington.

Production on Season 3 is set to begin this Spring, and air on Syfy this summer.

Face Off airs Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on Syfy.
