Syfy Renews Face Off For Season 4
If you're a fan of Syfy's special effects make-up artist competition series Face Off, there's good news! The cable network has elected to renew the series for a fourth season, which will premiere in 2013. The reality competition show is currently in its third season and airs on Tuesday nights on Syfy.
With so many elimination series out there, it's hard to know which ones are worth bothering with and which aren't, especially when it comes to the series that focus on very specific professions, like cake making, tattoo artistry, or in the case of Face Off, special-effects make-up. Face Off is one of the winners though, as the series features interesting challengers and offers some educational value for those of us who are curious about how the artists make the masks and elaborate costumes for some of the cooler creatures on the big and small screen. The series features various special-effects make-up artists as they compete each week with challenges that test their abilities as they attempt to make living works of art that demonstrate their technique and creativity.
As Syfy notes, the current season is averaging 986,000 million viewers 18-49 in the Live + Same Day playback, and 1.7 million total viewers. This is evidently enough for the network to move forward with the show, with Season 4 slated to premiere in 2013. And they've already announced some of the guest appearances for Season 4. Fans should expect to see appearances by Bryan Singer and Lightstorm's Jon Landaugh next season.
Meanwhile, Season 3 is currently airing on Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m.. An all-new episode airs tonight and will feature Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer, who will offer tips to the remaining six artists on this week's challenge. Spoiler alert: The challenge is Dr. Seuss! Sounds like a fun one! It should be interesting to see what the contestants come up with.
