Syfy is busy working on a plethora of original content. Based on the list of upcoming and in-development series, it looks like viewers of the cable network will have more ghost-focused reality series, and Syfy also appears to be joining the growing trend of collection-themed reality shows. But more interestingly, and more on the subject of actual science fiction, Syfy aims to get the scripted drama Defiance on the air in 2013. There are also some promising sounding dramas in the works.
Between the cast and the description for Defiance, which has the survivors of a universe-wide war attempting to live together in the same town, I have high hopes that this will be as great as it sounds. The information on that is below, along with the handful of new reality shows on deck to premiere on Syfy in the near future. Unfortunately, it looks like Defiance is the only new scripted series coming up, but there are more in development, including a drama based on the film The Adjustment Bureau, and another drama called High Moon, based on a novel called The Lotus Caves, by John Christopher. There's also an interesting sounding time travel drama called Rewind in the works. It should be interesting to hear the updates on those projects as things move forward.
On the reality TV front, Syfy has a couple of series focusing on hauntings, including Paranormal Highway, which has Jack Osbourne and Dana Workman traveling to possibly-haunted places on remote back roads across the country. There's also Hot Set, which comes from the producers of Face Off, and has production designers facing off.
