T.R. Knight Returning To Grey’s Full-Time. Seriously.
His dad died, he married a co-worker, cheated on her with another co-worker and spent another year surrounded by his friends’ McDramas and McBreakups. No wonder poor George O’Malley couldn’t pass his intern exam. Could you study in that environment?
Luckily for Grey’s Anatomy fans who are worried about the fate of their cuddly little Georgie, it looks like he’ll be back in his scrubs this fall. E! Online’s Watch With Kristin column is reporting that unlike co-star Isaiah Washington, T.R. Knight will be angsting his way through Seattle Grace’s halls for the entire season.
Rumors have plagued the cast of Grey’s since the ambiguous season finale that left both Dr. O’Malley’s and Dr. Burke’s (Washington) fates up in the air. ABC confirmed earlier this summer that Washington had been let go from the show, but ongoing contract negotiations left Knight’s status unclear. Even after his substantial reported pay hike (which was seen by many as a “mea culpa” for the whole forced-outing thing), there were still whispers of Knight only returning for 12 episodes.
According to Kristen Veitch, although there has been no official word from ABC, a source close to the show is saying that the network wouldn’t have given him the raise that they did if he was only going to be around for half the episodes. Unfortunately, Kristen’s source didn’t give any indication of the amount of whoopass George’s wife Callie was going to rain down upon him over his fling with Izzie. For that, we’ll just have to wait for the new episodes.
Season 4 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres on ABC Thursday, September 27.
