TV Land Awards To Honor The Cosby Show And Family Ties
Later this year, TV Land will honor two classic ‘80’s sitcoms at the 9th Annual TV Land Awards. Fans of the Huxtables and the Keaton’s won’t want to miss this year’s ceremony!
TV Land President Larry W. Jones announced today that their ninth installment of the TV Land Awards will be moving to New York for the taping in April.
"New York City is the world's biggest stage and the backdrop to many iconic television shows," states Jones. "It is the perfect spot to celebrate this fun and spectacular evening honoring some of the greatest names in TV, film and music."
While I’m all for things being taped in New York, if they were doing this as a nod to the setting of "many iconic television shows," it might be more fitting to have the ceremony taped on a soundstage on Los Angeles or Toronto or some other city dressed up to look like New York. TV Land also announced that The Cosby Show and Family Ties will be honored at the ceremony. The Cosby Show will receive The Impact Award for offering entertainment and enlightenment over the years. Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Sabrina Le Beauf, Tempestt Bledsoe, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Raven Symone and Lisa Bonet will all be in attendance.
Family Ties ise set to receive the Fan Favorite Award. Michael J. Fox, Meredith Baxter, Michael Gross, Justine Batemen and Tina Yothers will be on hand to accept the award. No word on Brian Eric Bonsall, who played the youngest Keaton, Andy in the later years of the series.
The 9th Annual TV Land Awards will tape and air in April 2011.
