TV Land Picks Up 11 Episodes Of Retired at 35

Awhile ago Cosmo Kramer tried, unsuccessfully, to leave the hustle and bustle of New York so he could retire to Del Boca Vista retirement community. It didn’t work out so well for television’s most famous hipster doofus (he got kicked out). Now another New Yorker will head down to Florida at an early age to enjoy the fruits of retirement. According to Deadline, TV Land has picked up the pilot and eleven episodes of Retired at 35, starring relative newcomer Johnathan McClain and George Segal (Just Shoot Me). Retired focuses on David (McClain) and his transition from The Big Apple to his father’s (Segal) retirement community. Who can blame him? I feel retirement is wasted on the old and decrepit. Why not let the young retire so they can take full advantage?

TV Land is relatively new to the original sitcom game, as a most of their programming has been reruns in syndication. Retired at 35 and Hot in Cleveland mark the channel’s first foray into creating and developing new comedies.

Retired at 35, a multi-camera sitcom, will feature a deep cast, but the real highlight could be Jessica Walter, the snarky matriarch of the Bluth family in Arrested Development. Other players include Casey Wilson, Christine Ebersole, Josh McDermitt, Ryan Michelle Bathe, Matt Champagne, George Wyner, Jere Burns and Faye DeWitt.
