TV Legend Aaron Spelling Dies

One of the most successful TV Producers in history died Friday night after suffering a severe stroke. 83-year-old Aaron Spelling left behind a wife, kids and a very long list of successful TV shows. Critics may have called his shows “mindless” but there are millions of fans out there who loved the shows he’s produced over the last few decades who might argue otherwise. The father of ‘Notorious’ Tori Spelling was responsible for recent shows such as ‘7th Heaven’ and ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’.

While you might be rolling your eyes at those types of shows, you must admit, they both had extremely long runs. The same goes for his past hits, which include ‘Melrose Place’, ‘Dynasty’, ‘Fantasy Island’, ‘The Love Boat’, ‘Starsky and Hutch’ and ‘T.J. Hooker’. Let’s face it, when it came to delivering the goods, Spelling had an eye for what worked.

While I believe his shows lacked the substance of many shows today, they were entertaining in their own way. I still watch reruns of ‘90210’ on the soap channel. Mr. Spelling, you served America well with your overly dramatic prime-time soap operas. May you rest in peace.
