TV Recap: Big Brother 10 - Week 6 Eviction (UPDATED with HoH Winner!)
I wish Angie had copyrighted her “Vote for you” pre-eviction speech because since she gave it, it seems as though at least one houseguest has tried to duplicate it each week. I’ll give Angie credit, it was probably one of the best “don’t evict me” speeches done in the history of the show but it wasn’t enough to save her from eviction and the copy-cat version of it that we heard tonight wasn’t enough to save the person who used it.
Before we got to evictions, we got to see April’s twin and Ollie’s parents talk about their showmance (or according to Ollie’s dad, “Showmass”). Either none of them have been watching the live feeds or else they were all just being polite when refraining from talking about the extent of the Ollie/April relationship, which has gotten pretty hot and heavy. To be honest, I don’t even care. I haven’t really been interested in following this couple’s relationship since it started. And I guess it doesn’t matter anyway because April was evicted tonight, so whatever the future holds for these two will have to play out off camera from now on. Considering the track-record for reality-TV romances, I’d say that’s for the best.
April didn’t go out without a fight. She and Ollie did their best to work on Dan, whom they consider the swing-vote once again. I’d say it bodes well for Dan that the house never knows which way he’s going to vote. It means that they don’t really consider him solidly allied with anyone. That makes him an asset to each person’s individual game as opposed to a definite threat. Then again, his unpredictability might get on the next HoH’s nerves and if that’s the case, he could be a goner.
The house was abuzz after Dan mentioned money being offered during his Veto speech. Michelle, for some strange reason, seems to be blind to April’s duplicity. Either she refuses to place any blame on April for Jessie’s eviction (even though it was April who swore to keep him safe, only to nominate him for eviction when she won HoH) or she figures she has a better chance at a stronger alliance with April than she does with Jerry. Regardless, she decided that it must have been Jerry who offered Dan money. If that were true and Jerry did offer Dan money, it wasn’t shown in the episode. We do know April hinted at forking over some cash to Dan if he were to use the Veto on her. It didn’t work but that didn’t stop her from throwing the offer back on the table if it meant securing Dan’s vote. Had Dan taken the bait, Michelle surely would’ve voted to evict Jerry and April would’ve had enough votes to stay. But Dan wasn’t to be bribed. For one thing, he’s already earned $20k for his brief stint as America’s Player (though the houseguests don’t know that) so a measly grand (or whatever her official offer would have been) wouldn’t be worth losing Keesha and Memphis’ hard-earned trust.
Memphis did consider voting Jerry out, giving us yet another dryly hilarious diary room quip, saying, “He’s annoying. He’s old. He bothers me. He’s a liar. He talks behind my back. Did I mention he’s a liar?” Yeah, I’d say he’s still not over being called a womanizer. Meanwhile, Ollie sat and listened to April talk about how great she is and how stupid it is for the house to want to evict her. After all, all she does is “do dishes, make cakes and give people stuff.” That’s not all she’s done. April’s proven to be very sneaky. Plus she’s not good for her word (as demonstrated by Jessie’s eviction) and she spent less time buddying up with the houseguests and trying to establish alliances and more time in bed with Ollie or fighting with Keesha. I’m not sad she’s gone. I was getting tired of hearing about how jealous Keesha is of her. Whether or not that’s true, there’s no reason to keep saying it. I’m also tired of the weird, blank stare Ollie gives April whenever she prattles on about it.
April’s “vote for you” speech didn’t change anyone’s mind and she was evicted (four votes to one) and Julie filled the time between her walk out the door and the start of tonight’s HoH competition by asking April about her future with Ollie. Again, I didn’t care what her answers were but she did seem interested in pursuing some kind of relationship if/when Ollie moves out to Arizona.
Tonight’s Head of Household competition is an endurance one and we can expect it to go on for hours. The houseguests are currently sitting on swinging vines. Occasionally the vines will drop down and slam them into a padded wall. From the feed reports, it appears that everyone is still up there. Next week we’re getting a double eviction. And finally, there’s an America’s Choice poll up on CBS’s BB website. The winning houseguest will get a call from home. As I’m rooting for Dan to make it to the end, I don’t think I’ll vote for him to win this A.C. prize. Some of the houseguests don’t trust him and suspect he might be America’s Player. If he wins the America’s Choice, that could put some unnecessary attention on him. So as much as I think the guy deserves a chat with his parents or his girlfriend, I’d rather see him fly under the radar if that’s at all possible. The same goes for Memphis. If there’s one houseguest that I think would love a call from home and could get away with winning it without drawing negative attention on themselves, it’s probably Renny. We’ll find out who wins next week.

Below are some updates on the HoH competition. Read no further if you want to avoid spoilers!
9:30 p.m. EST - Jerry is down. Everyone else still up.
9:54 p.m. EST - They were all swung into the wall and Keesha fell. Ollie, Dan, Memphis and Michelle still up.
10:21 p.m. EST - Just an update: The feeds went to trivia for a while and when they came back, all four HGs (Ollie, Dan, Memphis and Michelle) were still up there.
10:43 p.m. EST - Just another update to say that nothing's happened. All four still up though they do seem to be getting slammed into the wall more frequently so someone could fall soon.
10:49 p.m. EST - Michelle is down. Memphis, Dan and Ollie still up on their ropes.
11:11 p.m. EST - Memphis, Dan and Ollie all still up.
11:53 p.m. EST - All three still up.
12:07 a.m. EST - Memphis is down. Dan and Ollie still up.
12:39 a.m. EST - Ollie fell and Dan won. I'm guessing deals were made for Ollie to be safe. We'll find out who Dan nominates on Sunday night.
