TV Recap: Big Brother 11 - Week 3 Veto
Is it bad that I’m actually starting to like Jessie this season? Sure, Casey seems like a decent guy and I don’t think he deserves to go home just yet but Jessie’s cocky “Game Over” in the DR in response to the Veto competition had me laughing out loud. Maybe it’s because I’m mostly indifferent towards most of the contestants in the BB house this season, so Jessie’s clownishness is proving to be one of the most entertaining aspects of the show.
The bulk of tonight’s episode focused on game stuff. While Jordan, Jeff, Casey and Michele were all sure that the objective of this week was to backdoor Ronnie and sent his butt packing, Jessie had other plans. After ensuring that he had Ronnie’s loyalty, Jessie told him he was safe no matter what and not to worry about the Veto situation. Ronnie attempted to play it cool but his participation in a game of Truth or Dare resulted in Casey starting to realize that maybe the house, or in that specific case, Russell, who was also part of the game, wasn’t as irritated at Ronnie as they had been the previous week.
Though Casey’s keen observation skills did lead him to see that Ronnie might not be as close to the exit as he thought, it didn’t stop him from essentially throwing the Veto competition. Jessie, Jordan, Michele, Chima, Jeff and Casey were all competing for the Veto. They had to swing from a rope into a big puddle of mud that may or may not have been poop and find “truffles” with numbers on them. The object was to find and “lock in” four numbers. The person with the highest value when their numbers were totaled won the Veto. There were also prizes on some of the truffles and the option to select a mystery envelope that could increase or decrease the value of that contestant’s total.
Jordan stated later in the DR that she would’ve been ok if the mud was poop. I seriously don’t get this girl but as she said, she’s not the smartest crayon in the box. If anyone knows which crayon is the smartest, feel free to let the rest of us know. Casey, who also isn’t that smart a crayon, decided to lock in a Margarita party for the house in place of a numbered truffle. This meant a lower score for himself and probably the game. Had he known Jessie was looking to backdoor him he might’ve forgone the impending “good vibes” that resulted in getting the house some drinks and tried to win the Veto instead. Cut to Jessie in the diary room yelling out a big “Game Over” to Casey in response to the margarita party. I’m thinking the choice to go for that prize will be Casey’s biggest regret in the game if he does leave on Thursday night.
To add insult to injury (though he didn’t know it at the time), he chose a mystery envelope, which was a “prize” that put him in a banana costume for the duration of the week. Meanwhile, Michele, who also took a gamble with the envelopes, got seven extra points added to her total, which was enough to win her the Veto. Jessie came close but he’ll have to settle for the $2500 he won on one of the truffles. As he never intended to keep the nominations the same, winning the Veto wasn’t all that vital to him, but it’s not always a good thing to go for the cash prize in this game. People remember that kind of thing.
Michele was elated at winning a competition and of course, ensuring her safety for the week. Jessie sat down with her later, probably in an attempt to smooth things over with her since he put her on the block, and asked her who she’d want nominated in her place. During the conversation, it came out that Jessie wasn’t planning on backdooring Ronnie. Michele did the math and figured Casey must be his target. Between that conversation and a discussion between Lydia and Kevin, the rest of the house soon figured out that Casey was in trouble. Casey, suited up banana-style, heard about this and paid a visit to Jessie. I think he might have actually been able to work out a deal with Jessie if he hadn’t talked to him so aggressively. That’s part of what put him on Jessie’s radar to begin with. The conversation he had with Natalie last week about Jessie being a target if he didn’t go with the house on booting Ronnie seemed to tick Jessie off. This conversation didn’t do anything to rectify that situation. Sure, Casey saying he never intended to come after Jessie was good but he seemed so tense and irritated that it probably only served to encourage Jessie to get the guy up on the block and get him gone before he had the chance to come after him.
During the Veto ceremony, Michele gave an unnecessary speech about fighting to stay in the game and then took herself off the block. Jessie’s speech was something to the effect of, “I’m the ruler of all you all this week so deal with it. Casey, take a seat in the nomination chair.” The banana did not look happy but what was even more amusing was Jordan’s response to Ronnie’s little scowly smile. “Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked him. Ronnie played innocent, of course. Clearly Jordan’s been spending too much time gazing into Jeff’s eyes to notice that Ronnie looks at everyone weird.

Casey and Jordan are up on the block. I really can’t imagine the house pulling together to target Jordan this week. Unless Casey can cool it a little bit and work on winning over Jessie’s alliance members, he’s probably as good as gone.
