TV Recap: Big Brother 11 - Week 8 Nominations
Things are definitely not looking good for Jeff and Jordan. That said, I need to give it up for Kevin for making a big game move in violating the agreement he had with Jeff and going after the bigger fish. It’s a risk but even if you’re a Jeff-fan, you can’t fault the guy for seeing what a big threat Jeff is.
Tonight’s episode started with the conclusion of last Thursday’s Head of Household competition. While Jeff chuckled as Jordan took numerous spills on her way to and from the big ball she was attempting to fill with hot chocolate, Kevin’s dainty steps aided him in taking a firm lead in the competition. Upon seeing that her alliance member was dominating the three women, Natalie started to stall, essentially throwing the comp by pretending to lose her cup a few times. While she thought her tactics went unnoticed, everyone including Kevin seemed to realize what she was doing. At this point in the game, does Natalie really need to feign weakness? It’s not like anyone sees her as a huge competitive threat as it is.
Kevin won the HoH competition and in the diary room, said that while Jordan, Michele and Jeff may think they’re safe, they’re not. The statement made no sense to me as it seems clear to everyone that the only two people in the house who are probably safe are Kevin and Natalie. Why would Jeff, Jordan and Michele automatically assume they’re safe when there are so few people in the house?
Filler included Natalie freaking out over a dragonfly, an argument over peaches vs. nectarines, Kevin tearfully reading his letter from his boyfriend, Michele crying and reminding herself that this is all just a game, and Kevin quizzing Jeff over his taste in women. Apparently, he likes chicks with brown hair, ponytails and foreign accents. Jordan appears to be the exception to most of his preferences. We also got to see Natalie announcing to everyone in the house that she wants Michele to go. She stated in the diary room that this is all just a tactic to get Jeff to think he’s safe. Again, what is it with these people thinking anyone would be foolish enough to feel safe with only five people left in the house? Does Natalie really think Jeff would throw the Veto competition even if he wasn’t nominated?
Kevin’s nomination decision wasn’t an easy one. After conversing with everyone in the house, he and Jeff hashed out the deal they made the previous week. Jeff reminded Kevin that he held his end of the deal by getting Russell out and now Kevin needs to hold up his end of the deal by not nominating him. If the target is Michele, Kevin can nominate Michele and Jordan, giving Jeff the opportunity to win the Veto and take Jordan off, ensuring their safety. Natalie would go up in Jordan’s place and Jeff/Jordan would vote Michele out. Everyone’s happy. Jeff presents the plan to Kevin, explaining that he wouldn’t be breaking his deal by doing that and in the end, Michele would go home.
Kevin decided to take the risk by breaking his deal with Jeff. He nominated Jeff and Michele, which means even if Jeff wins the Veto, Jordan could still go up and be evicted. If that were to happen though, Kevin would have to worry about Jeff coming after him, which he probably would anyway since Kevin and Michele are the two biggest competitors in the house next to Jeff. In the end, it will all come down to the Veto as will be the case for the duration of the season. At this point in the game, the Veto holds as much power and safety as the HoH does. We were also teased about some mystery-power that Kevin will receive, which could change the game. What is it and will he use it? We’ll find out on Tuesday.
