TV Recap: Big Brother - Week 3 Eviction
Another live show done and two more BB houseguests sent packing. I told myself last week that I was going to devote some time to the live feeds this week but once again, that didn’t happen so I had no idea what to expect from tonight’s live show. Was Operation Condor still in effect or would the non-nominated houseguests stick with Operation Bro-Down.
As it turned out, they decided against Bro-Down and stuck with the plan to boot the other two “top shelf” contestants but we’ll get to that in the minute. Before the live eviction, we got to see some of the strategizing that went on this week. Initially, the plan was to put Matt and Natalie up as pawns and go after Amanda and Alex. But then Allison spied Mattalie working out (bench pressing in a bikini? Yikes!). It occurred to Allison that maybe getting rid of those two might be a better plan, seeing as they’re considerably stronger as a team than Alex and Amanda, plus they haven’t been on slop so they might do better in competitions. When Allison relayed this idea to some of the other houseguests, they seemed to be strongly considering it but since we saw Adam and Matt shaking on an alliance earlier in the episode, it looked likely that at least one team wouldn’t be voting to evict Mattalie. There was also a conversion with Sharon, Josh and Natalie that indicated that they weren’t planning on evicting Mattalie either. So by the time the live eviction came, the only thing I was wondering was what Ryan and Allison were going to do. As it turned out, everyone was fully back on board with Operation Condor by today because Amanda and Alex were voted out unanimously.
Maybe it was because there was so much crying but it felt like it took Alex and Amanda forever to get out the door. In fact, Julie had to actually tell them there goodbye-time was up at one point. I will say that I’m in no way going to miss Amanda’s constant baby-talking.
Before I get to the HoH competition, I need to say that I totally adore James. I know he’s the big hero of the week because of how he handled Amanda’s medical emergency so joining Team James probably makes me look like I’m totally jumping on the bandwagon but I don’t care. The guy just seems to have it all together. That’s a rare thing for someone his age and even rarer for a reality show participant.
Ok back to the show. So the Head of Household competition was an eliminator game. The houseguests had to answer questions based on the quotes on the plaques on the walls. Whoever buzzed in first and got the correct answer could eliminate one of the other contestants. If they buzzed in and got the answer wrong they were eliminated. The girls competed against each other first. Sharon dominated the round, knocking out each of the females pretty fast. Afterwards, the guys went. Ryan eliminated himself by guessing the wrong answer and Josh promptly knocked Matt and Adam out after that. The winning guy and girl were supposed to face-off to determine which team would win HoH but since Sharon and Josh both won, there was no point in a face off. They took the HoH title.
Based entirely on what I know of them from the episodes, I’m guessing that they’ll put up Ryan/Allison and Adam/Sheila.
So what’s Julie talking about in terms of next week’s eviction? In case you were too distracted by her shimmery turtle broach to pay attention, she said, “The evicted couple will get a surprise that no one will see coming and a new chapter will begin for this season of Big Brother.” Anyone have any guesses as to what that might be?
