TV Recap: Big Brother - Week 8 Eviction
It seemed like Josh was sailing through this game. Through the twists and turns, this guy managed to skate by and hide behind the bigger targets week after week. Last week, one of those targets was sent packing, leaving Josh much more vulnerable than in previous weeks. It also didn’t help that this week, he was up against the invisible woman.
Tonight’s live show felt strangely predictable. In fact, this whole week was predictable. Natalie won Head of Household and nominated James and Josh. James won his third Veto in a row but before that happened, he blew up at Sheila for being two-faced. Once James won the Veto, Josh new his number was up. He wept silently in the backyard and then again in the bedroom.
Crying is like a virus in this house. James cried earlier in the week because he felt alone. Then a bunch of the houseguests had a group cry in the kitchen. Sharon cried because Josh was crying over losing the Veto. Josh later shed some fake tears to try and win Adam over and that caused Adam to tear up. Seriously, never has their been a more weepy group of people on this show.
For tonight’s bit of filler we got to meet Josh’s parents. While Josh’s mom spent most of the time trying to convince us that Josh’s mean comments and rants in the house were just strategy, Josh’s dad sat next to her looking silently uncomfortable. Now we know where Josh inherited that intense look he gets when he’s nervous.
From the footage shown in tonight’s episode, it seemed like Josh came close to getting enough votes to say. He had no problems selling his supposed BFF, Sharon down the river (sorry, I just can’t use the “bus” analogy anymore) and campaigning against her. When Natalie told Sharon this, she briefly stopped being invisible long enough to remind everyone that no one wants to get rid of her. Once reminded of this, the plan reverted back to booting Josh. And that’s how it played out, with Josh being evicted by a vote of three to one (James voted for Sharon to go). Josh gave a very rehearsed-sounding speech on his way out the door and then spent his exit-interview with Julie talking a mile a minute. To his credit, he made every effort to be positive about the whole thing, which was extremely different than Chelsia’s dramatic exit last week.
The Head of Household competition was completely boring and had to do with the number of items in the house. Does any one care how many table-lamps there are in the Big Brother house? It looked like Sharon was about to win this won but she fell behind on a question (possibly on purpose as she has no real reason to win HoH at this point) and in the end, Adam won.
Will Adam continue on the mission to get rid of James or will he actually give the guy a break and go after someone else? Does it matter? I’ve really been trying to get into this season but for some reason, I feel less and less interested in Big Brother with each passing week. Something needs to happen to make this season exciting again. Maybe BB is just meant to be a summer show.
