TV Recap: House - Fetal Position
So, another Tuesday means another medical mystery that only one daring and maverick doctor can solve: 'House,' of course, on Fox. This week, it's up to House and company to save a photographer and her baby.
The episode opens with the typical 'Let's see the patient get sick.' This time, we get to see our photographer get sick in front of Tyson Ritter from the emo band The All-American Rejects. In the midst of a photo shoot, Emma the photographer gets a stroke despite being very knowledgeable about the warning signs, and goes straight to House.
House takes the case because Cuddy believes Emma is a special case. We find out that Emma is on her fifth try for a baby, and her sperm donor was a neurologist, hence the stroke knowledge. After some tests, House and the rest of his staff have figured that her kidneys are failing. Things get worse when they realize that the rest of her body is working fine, and there's only one reason she's sick: her baby.
There are only a few things to do, and most are very dangerous to the baby. House quickly decides that the best route is to kill the baby, although he steadfastly refuses to consider it a person. Emma is just as adamant against it, willing to continue getting sick (she's even gotten jaundice thanks to the baby), even though House believes she'll only last two more days.
In the meantime, the subplot of Cameron and Chase continues. It's obvious that Chase, at least, is getting more and more attached to Cameron, who may or may not feel the same. Emma quickly picks up on Chase's attraction and lets him take one of the pictures of Cameron away with him, since he can't help but love it. Cuddy, meanwhile, warns Cameron about getting deep into a relationship that may fail, since she may get hurt more than Chase. Foreman warns Chase not to get in too deep, just to cover his own ass.
As Emma remains against the abortion of her baby, House decides to go on the vacation he's been dying to go on for the whole episode, leaving Cuddy in charge. She does as much as she can to save the baby, before she is told by everyone, including Wilson (who is barely in the episode), that the baby needs to be terminated. She finally goes back to House, who hasn't left, and begs him to give the baby one more chance. He relents and they go in to save Emma and her kid.
And how does that happen? House goes into an exploratory surgery of the baby, by basically opening Emma up and taking the baby out, fixing it and putting it back in. House is initially surprised at how touched he is when the baby grabs his finger and he feels the need to grab back. However, soon after, Emma gets worse and they have to revive her, just as House feels the need to see what it might be like to get electrocuted. Of course, things work out well, and both Emma and her baby, who will be born twice, technically, live.

Cuddy gets House that vacation he wanted, which would explain why the previews for next week's episode appaer to make the episode set entirely on a plane. Interesting idea, 'House' writers. Check back next week to see if it pans out.
