Finally, we learn a little about Cooper’s mysterious past. And the fact that he’s a straight-up guy. With a ton of money. But I already knew that. Also that Danny and Delinda are doing just fine in the parenting department. But I knew that, too. Here’s the scoop.
When Piper knowingly allows a minor to gamble in the casino (for a photo op), Danny has no choice but to fire her. Then Cooper steps in and re-hires her – after paying a million-dollar fine. What gives? Mike does a little sleuthing and learns that Cooper and Piper go way back. In fact, since birth, wherever she’s landed in the country, Cooper has bought a big company there and made sure she had a job.
Turns out she’s the daughter of a Marine buddy who died in the line of fire, and Cooper promised to take care of her. Yeah, I figured all this out about 10 minutes into the show. Ok, so I thought she was Cooper’s daughter for about 3 minutes. Big whoop.
Anyway, things end on an upbeat note with Cooper and Piper having a heart-to-heart about her dad. Sniff…that’s sweet…
Meanwhile, Sam is hauled into traffic class for reckless driving and ends up watching crash horror movies with titles like “Mechanized Death,” led by a nerdy guy named Frank who’s a younger version of that drone-ish teacher in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I thought for sure he was going to start saying, “Bueller…Bueller…Bueller…”
And Danny is getting into the whole Lamaze thing, it’s both sweet and a little creepy when he starts spouting off breastfeeding techniques to the rest of the Lamaze class. He can’t wait to meet the kid. Delinda can’t wait to get it out of her.
But when D&D get chummy with another super-prepared Lamaze couple, they start thinking they might be slackers. They haven’t even thought about a nursery or preschool or college fund or a house in a good neighborhood. Until the other couple goes into labor and Danny and Delinda keep their heads while the other couple goes berserk. Yep, they’ll be just fine.
And what a coup this show has, airing new episodes right now. I hope other viewers grab the Vegas fever and start watching.
