Things Looking Really Good For Dollhouse Renewal
“Did I fall asleep?” Seriously, someone pinch me because I must be dreaming. Dollhouse is getting picked up for a second season? While the official announcement hasn’t been made yet, word is, Fox is set to give the series a chance to grow.
The Hollywood Reporter posted that sources close to the show say that a deal has been made to give Dollhouse a 13-episode pickup for a second season. The official announcement will be made at Fox’s upfront presentation on Monday. While the ratings haven’t been great for the Joss Whedon-created series, the DVR ratings have been adding a 40% boost to the numbers and perhaps that was enough to convince Fox that they may have a winner on their hands.
I doubt I’m alone in hoping this rumor is true and that we’ll hear the confirmation come Monday. Dollhouse shows a lot of promise, based on the first season. It’s hard to say whether or not the series will live up to the standards set by Whedon’s other shows (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) but one common thread, among his previous series is the build-up that occurs from season to season. Firefly doesn’t really count there since it got axed after the first season but both Buffy and its spinoff series Angel started out slow and a little choppy but gradually developed into phenomenal series after their first seasons gave viewers the chance to let the characters grow on them. I hope the same will be the case for Dollhouse.
