Til Death Meets Its Demise

After four seasons, Fox has decided to cancel comedy series Til Death. And after just four episodes, Sons of Tucson is being pulled from the air. While the network hasn’t officially cancelled Sons, their choice to pull the show temporarily isn’t promising.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Sons of Tucson, which airs on Sunday nights and hasn’t been doing that well ratings-wise, will be replaced by American Dad episodes for the remainder of the season. The remaining eight episodes will be aired on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. this summer.

Meanwhile, ’Til Death, which stars Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher, is being cancelled. The series premiered in 2006 and has run for four seasons (including the this season). THR says it’ll finish its run this summer. The Reporter also noted that the series has been a “utility player for the network” and was often pushed around the schedule. That’s probably at least part of the reason why the series suffered in the ratings. Even in an age where DVRs find our shows when the networks decide to rearrange the furniture, it’s easy to forget about a show when you don’t know when it’s going to air or when a new episode will pop up in your DVR’s “recorded” list. RIP ’Til Death.

As for Sons, no official cancellation announcement has been made but the choice to pull the show from the air and bring it back during the summer really doesn’t sound good.
