Tough Love From A&E's Matchmaker

Most dating shows serve to showcase the successes and failures of regular Joes attempting to find true love. From ‘The Dating Game,’ to ‘The Love Connection,’ to late-night shows like ‘Blind Date,’ viewers love to see people attempt to connect with other people on a romantic level. While those shows might be fun, they don’t really do much to help people learn the do’s and don’ts of successful dating. In another effort to show off a unique line of work, A&E’s new show ‘Confessions of a Matchmaker,’ gives viewers an inside look at the life and work of a professional matchmaker.

The reality series, which airs on Saturdays, centers on Patti Novak, a professional matchmaker. For years, Novak has been assisting singles in Buffalo, New York with their dating etiquette. In this day and age, most people with an internet connection can find romance without even having to leave their homes. When it comes to dating, the hard part isn’t always finding Mr. or Ms. Right. For many people its knowing what to do and what not to do while dating. That’s where Novak comes in.

When helping the single men and women in the city that founded delicious spicy chicken wings, Novak doesn’t hold back. She uses tough love to help people recognize their strengths and weaknesses so that they can be at their best when trying to find (and keep) love.

‘Confessions of a Matchmaker’ airs on A&E on Saturday nights at 10:00 p.m.
