True Blood's Alan Ball Thanks Fans With A Video Message Before Season 5 Finale
Tonight marks the end of the fifth season of True Blood, and also the end of Alan Ball's run as showrunner for the HBO drama series. While True Blood will go on, Ball is moving over to Cinemax to work on Banshee. In anticipation of the Season 5 finale of True Blood, Ball recorded a message to fans of the series, thanking them for their support over the years.
In the video below, Ball admits that the passion of the fans "kind of scared" him at the start of True Blood, and given how beloved Charlaine Harris' books are, that's understandable. But he also says they're the best fans any show could ever have.
How will True Blood do without Ball at the wheel? We'll find out next summer when Season 6 premieres. In the meantime, tonight's finale was written by Alan Ball, who's been running the series since it first premiered back in 2008. And from what he says, it sounds like there are some big things ahead in this episode.
True Blood's Season 5 finale airs on HBO tonight (Sunday) at 9:00 p.m. ET. Join Alan Ball in a Live Q&A at HBO Connect on Monday, August 27 at 2pm ET. Submit questions at hbo.com.
