Tuesday Night Drama Queen: Rescue Me
Tonight’s episode of ‘Rescue Me’ was full of rejections and disappointments. I suppose that was to be expected considering the title of the episode was “Chlamydia”. Poor Tommy finds out early on that his dirty affair with Mrs. Turbody may have been dirtier than he realized. Franco’s new girlfriend turns on him and Probie inches closer to transferring.
The episode starts with Tommy packing up the stuff he has to give Janet as part of the settlement. After the guys leave, Tommy finds one of Connor’s baseball gloves and it makes him sad. Sheila attempts to console him by hitting on him. Tommy pushes her away and they argue about his mixed signals and “glances”. Sheila walks out.
Probie goes in to talk to the chief about getting another transfer application. The chief mentions the constant ribbing Probie has to put up with and how it’s the worst he’s ever seen. Probie seems to take that in and then leaves. Later on he’s talking to his roommate about it and they start arguing (once again) over who’s gayer. They’re distracted by the baseball game and the fight ends.
When Franco’s girlfriend Alicia babysits for Kayley, she becomes concerned at Kayley’s somewhat unstable home life. Kayley mentions that girls her dad dates don’t stick around that much. When Franco returns home he finds a note from Alicia. After reading it he storms off to her apartment (leaving us to assume the note said “hey Franco, I took the kid.” or something of that nature). The doorman in Alicia’s building wont let him through. The next day Franco tells Tommy about Alicia taking Kayley. The next time we see Franco he’s looking at kids in the park. A cop comes along and, assuming the worst, tells Franco to get lost.
Alicia comes by the firehouse and talks to Tommy. She basically says that little girls grow up to marry men like their daddy’s and that Kayley deserves better. Tommy tries to argue with her but, having daughters of his own, it seems like he sort of sees her point (and maybe feels a bit guilty for his own girls). When Franco shows up at the fire house later, he grabs Tommy and demands Alicia’s explanation. Tommy explains it all and again, it seems like Franco gets it but he’s not happy about it. He beats up the locker and storms off (after apologizing for grabby Tommy).
The Maggie/Garrity stuff goes sour after Tommy finally lays it all down for Garrity about his sister and the real reason his sister’s ex-boyfriend killed himself. Garrity breaks up with Maggie and tells her what Tommy told him. Maggie stops by Tommy’s empty apartment to yell at him for messing things up with her and Garrity. Garrity and Tommy fight the next day and Garrity tells Tommy that they’re not friends anymore (its totally insincere though and kind of funny).
I’m all out of order here at this point because its easier to stick with the running plots. After Sheila and Tommy fought, Sheila finds out about Mrs. Turbody and how she was “raping” some of her students. She’s convinced her son was one of them but Tommy tries to argue that there’s no way. Sheila say its all over the news and that the woman has Chlamydia. Tommy immediately gets nervous that he’s got what he refers to as “the big C” (later Lou corrects him and tells him that Cancer is “the big C” and that Chlamydia is the little c.). Tommy casually asks the crew about it, not wanting them to know why he wants to know. They tell him that most STD’s make it hurt when you pee. So all day Tommy is holding it in, convinced that when he pees, it’ll hurt and he’ll know he has Chlamydia. He ends up confessing to Lou about Mrs. Turbody (after what Lou’s been through, a little Chlamydia is nothing). Eventually Tommy gives in and pees and Lou can hear Tommy moaning as he does it (it sounds like the “Oh yeah, I needed that” type of moaning though).

Jerry finally asks Rose to stay the night. She agrees. The next morning Jerry’s brother-in-law comes over to offer him some money towards his sister’s (Jerry’s wife’s) treatment. The guy confesses that he never liked Jerry and that’s why he didn’t talk to his sister anymore but after he came by asking for help, his wife said that was good character. Just as he’s handing Jerry the check, Rose comes down the stairs. He sees her and realizes what’s up, tears up the check and leaves. Looks like Jerry’s stuck mopping up the bar for now.
Since being in prison, Uncle Teddy’s gotten quite a few marriage proposals. He’s mostly interested in conjugal visits. He and a fellow inmate go through the pictures together and decide on one that doesn’t seem too clingy looking. Teddy meets her and she starts ranting on about people not being responsible for their actions. She tops it off with a bunch of derogatory statements about minorities and its clear that Teddy’s in love. He proposes.
Finally, Marissa Tomei guest starred in this episode as Angie, Johnny’s ex-wife. First Sheila runs into her and then tells Tommy. Tommy makes it a point to “accidentally” run into Angie and he asks her out. She goes for drinks with him and realizes early on that he’s trying to use her to get back at Johnny. She leaves.
At the end of the episode Angie calls him up and tells him that she’s in. She tells him it sounds like fun to get back at Johnny and to let her know what he wants her to do. He says he’ll think about it though he seems a bit taken off guard. They hang up and for a second, Tommy sees Jimmy sitting in the car next to him. Not normal Jimmy but cut up bleeding 9/11 Jimmy. Jimmy disappears and there’s nothing for a second then he sees Connor. Connor disappears and then again, there’s nothing. Tommy pulls the car over and cries.
Thus ends another great episode of ‘Rescue Me’
