I'm still trying to wrap my head around what Tyra Banks is thinking in canceling her daytime talk show, as she announced that this will be the last season of The Tyra Show, after five years. With Oprah Winfrey calling it quits, there's going to be a battle royale to find out who's going to be the next queen of daytime, and Tyra had a shot.
I guess we'll just go ahead and give the crown to Ellen DeGeneres now. Unless we think Dr. Phil wants to be queen.
I find it interesting that Oprah was one of the people, along with Tyler Perry, who encouraged Banks to make a big change at this point in her career, according to People. She'll be leaving daytime to focus on her new film production company, Bankable Studios. Don't worry, it will be just as girl-powered as everything else she does, and we've still got new season of America's Next Top Model and her ABC series True Beauty coming to keep us Tyra-satisfied for the time being.
She certainly made some outrageous headlines with some of the stunts she pulled on her show, from fondling Katharine McPhee's breasts to showing us her real hair, Banks was all about taking the mystique out of womanhood.
